Obituary of Shantaben H. Patel

Shantaben Patel, age 76, of Buena Park, CA passed away on January 31, 2023, after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Shantaben was born on September 2, 1946, in Piplav, India. She was much loved as the youngest of five children. After graduating high school, she married Hiru Patel in 1971. She received her teaching diploma in 1972 and started working as an elementary school teacher. While she gave up teaching once her children, Jaimini and Nirav, were born, she finished her college education and earned her Bachelor’s in 1976.

She traveled to the US with her two children to join her husband who had emigrated earlier. The family lived in Gallup, NM for over 33 years before retiring and moving to Buena Park, CA to be closer to the children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and she especially loved cooking her special dishes for them. She was a devoted Hindu, regularly hosting bhajans at the house. She is survived by her husband, Hiru, her daughter, Jaimini, son, Nirav, son-in-law, Atul, daughter-in-law, Darshana, and her four beloved grand children, Sahil, Asha, Saira and Elan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, an organization that leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and dementia.
